1.) what is a mermaid warrior?

a mermaid warrior is any girl who is not afraid to be herself. she is also able to swim through murky water and find beauty in anything.

2.) how does this e-course work? do i have homework? do i have to complete it in a certain timeframe?

each week you will receive a video and pdf. they will include real classes with kids, tips, inspiration, and a few other goodies. (i don't want to give it all away!) it is totally up to you if you want to try the project each week. for the people that are wanting to teach camps this summer though, i do recommend you get started on making your own art journal now. you will need an example! there will be no homework but suggestions instead. this should not feel like pressure but fun! all the info is available to download, so you can go at your own pace. the class will stay up for 3 months, so just make sure you get it before then!

3.) how do i sign up?

right here:

4.) i don't have any experience in art, is that okay?

of course! i will explain things in great detail. all you need is a passion to help other girls create!

5.) i am not able to take it this time around, will you be teaching more?

i would love to do more! however a course this detailed will not be offered until after summer.

6.) what age groups are the camps geared towards?

there will be age groups 3-15 covered, so there should be a little something in there for anyone. i will include modifications for each class as well. meaning, even if i am filming a 5 year old doing art for the weekly video, i will add in the pdf suggestions on things you may want to elaborate on with older girls. i will do the same when i film an older group-the pdf will include ways to simplify it for the little guys.
even though the younger girls will have less labor intensive projects~they will be doing things beyond painting and coloring. i think a lot of people underestimate what younger kids can create. yes they love the stickers and the foam cut-outs, but there is so much more they can do. i also want you to see how independent they are, and how much they thrive on it.

7.) can i take the class for my 7 year old self?

absolutely! although the class is formated to teach+organize a girls art camp, there are weekly videos that may inspire you to get out your art supplies and play. i do all the projects i teach personally. since there will be kids in each video, i am thinking they would be a great support as well. really, how could they not inspire?

8.) is there an art supply list?

ii am not going to give a huge supply list because i would like you to see the projects first before going out and buying anything. if you are excited and want to go out and get some goodies, start with: a journal to play in, modge podge or meduim, acrylic paints, stamps (any kind but foam ones are perfect for little ones) stencils, colored pencils, crayons, glitter (any kind) and some kids washable paint.

9.) will we see you live?

not this time around...maybe some day!

10.) is there any class interaction?

i will answer your questions weekly either in a group email or video. this way we can hear each others questions too. you can also post your work on flicker.
