i need color
here is the deal:
i have no room to complain concerning weather. i live in southern california. however, and this is not a complaint but a mere fact-the entire month of june is usually gray. we call it june gloom. no one ever tells you about june gloom. as a result… since we are all so spoiled with sunshine, sea, and palm trees-gloominess becomes unacceptable and everyone gets cranky. especially me.
so i have been looking for color. i did some more art yesterday with friends and i felt my mood lift once again. as much as i am aware of this knowledge: art=a happy mermaid…i go through (sometimes) long phases of not doing it. and then wonder why my spirit is low.
ok-enough already. here are a few photos from yesterday. they be making me happy. and if you are feeling gray on the outside or on the inside i give you a little nudge to turn up the color, too.
as loud as you want.
amen.

take that gloomness of juneness!

ah… june gloom… I would feel sad about the fact that my two beach days were spent in june gloom except that the rest of my summer has been spent in the desert … in nearly and sometimes over 100 degree weather.
Coming home to the expected june weather in socal has been just what I needed to replenish… so I won’t be getting a tan on my california vacation… don’t need it, have plenty of sun in albuquerque.
It’s funny what can make you feel home and nostalgic and happy all at once… but I see your point about needing color! If i could bottle it and send it to you from abq, I would! For now, rest assured that june gloom will give way to a beautiful indian summer as it always does!

Beautiful! (I am welcoming the gloom here in Texas. It has been SO HOT already that the past few days of showers has been very nice. (Also we get pretty worried about firework fires around these parts and the rain right before the holiday helps.)

Color galore is yours for the asking, thirty minutes to the east of you.

Yes, it’s been wayyyyy too hot here in TX. Rains we’ve had are very welcome. I love you and your color!

We’ve had unseasonably icky rain in the midwest this year (Illinois) and I am just as sick of it as you might be. You are always so colorful to me but I really needed this reminder to get out my coloring books.
