she

she is changing the story midstream.
she is getting out the red pumps and the
henna tattoos.
she is in love with a song and a postcard.
she is twirling little girls.
she is giving directions.
she is stringing together photographs like daisies.
she is freaked out by all the uncertainty.
she is decorating a treehouse.
she is learning italian.
she is covered in pink and gold paint.
she is at the hard part where she usually
runs away.
she is finding her voice.
she is singing very loud.
she is documenting her friends.
she is writing a lot of love letters.
she is half in and half out.
she is reality and she is a dream.
she is open.
she is ready.
she is saying fuck it and dancing anyway.
she is free.

love it love it love it!
i OFTEN ask myself, “where will i find my strength? my voice? the lady of steel inside who stands up and says what happens next?”
mirrored in my sisters, that’s where.
