video assignment and a little update…

birdonwire

hi loves. thank you for your interest in my little video project. i have not forgotten about it or you….i have been in the throws of change, and that combined with being sick for the past few weeks finally took a toll on my body.

but more on that later. lets talk about filming. i wanting to give you all an easy assignment to start off with. however, if you want to run with it, i am going to give you additional suggestions to inspire. remember~this is all for play and self-discovery~like a collage. you never know how it is going to turn out…but in the end it is exactly what it needs to be.

so here it is folks:

1.) find a line of poetry or quote you have written. scan your blogs, old journals, love letters, emails, etc. what pops out at you? if nothing is speaking to you, pick a favorite quote. open a book and find a line.

2.) pick a piece of music. (if nothing seems right, ask a friend for a suggestion. i randomly did this and it worked so well. trust it!)

3.) put them together

4.) link it here

this can be short…60 seconds even. i find that starting really small and easy is the key to beginning anything new. take off the pressure! in my case, the music ended up inspiring more poetry (thank you dj bellysta!) so if you feel the pull to keep going, i encourage that too.

poetry has always been my first love, yet lately i have been hesitant to share or post it anywhere. then i started to play with some images and video, slowly adding my own words..and there i found the perfect new home for my words. nestled safely within layers of color and familiar faces/places, the vulnerability was still present but also well protected.

that is the place that i am living currently~so very vulnerable and exposed, yet strong and empowered at the same time. the strength feeds off the vulnerability. the vulnerability gets inspired by the strength. this is a strange world to be living in, and to anyone else who finds themselves there know you are not alone.

i believe this is a space of magic, because whenever my life starts to get kinda messy- that means it is about to get really good. my old reiki teacher/mentor told me the other day that to find complete love, you must feel ALL of your pain first. oh how these words have never been more true. or beautiful. this is the time to make it happen, to dig up all those old dreams and put them into action.

going back to the video project as a form of self-expression~i think when you go through deep transition it is essential to have an outlet. your inside worlds often rocks your outside world. i have been the receiver of many well intended opinions, projections, suggestions, etc. all of a sudden my very private personal life is out for everyone one to see, all while i am trying to hear my own voice and path. i feel like when you go through something scary and bold like separating from a long-term partner, you hold up a mirror to others forcing them to look at their own relationships and needs, etc.

a very slippery slope i tell you. even when outside intentions are good, there needs to be a sacred place to be where you need to be without interruptions.

that is where art comes in. art helps shape the path. it takes you out of your body to create, and then brings you right back to ground. art will give you the clarity your heart desires.

on that note, lets play. how about thursday for a showing date? (again, no rules here…you can join in, as always, anytime…)

experiment. get out the camera. go for a walk. find some music.
see what happens.

remember, its all good.
no matter what.

Dear McCabe,

I just caught up on your latest blogs and it sounds like life has been quite topsy-turvy for you, lately. I will hold you close in my prayers as you embark on this uncertain part of your journey.

I sent you an email through your esty shop, but I’m not sure if that is the best way to reach you. I have a question about my rock-of-the-month club, so if you wouldn’t mind dropping me an email, I would greatly appreciate it.

With healing hugs,
Debbie

Oh my goodness soul sister! I hear you – in fact we are on the same wavelength!
