as promised….some photos of my day yesterday. we had so much fun! here is delilah in her mermaid/fairy costume. she did not mind the daisy crown surprisingly, but the tutu was a bit much. she still got her chicken as a distraction/apology for making her wear a costume. gotta play fair with the kitty.

i collaged my pumpkin instead of carving it. (mermaids are not good with sharp objects)

my neighbor kira was awesome~she made pumpkin cookies, spiced wine, roasted pumpkin seeds and also provided us with pumpkin ale, which was really good by the way. it totally tasted like pumpkins. but a beer.

everyone but me worked into the evening…collaging a pumpkin is kinda a pain in the ass. so, i lit lots of tea candles everywhere and had some spicy wine. the village (that is what we call it) looked so very magical! i am not good with taking photos at night, so you will just have to take my word for it. i also put candles in hanging candle jars (made out of baby food jars and wire) on the trees. i will teach you all how to make them one day. totally fun and easy. well, sort of easy.

the funny thing is after all this work we did not get one trick or treater! i was bummed…but at the same time it was a reminder to make your life beautiful for YOU, no one else.

the awesome surfer pumpkin above was done by the monks. they do it every year, and display them in various places in downtown encinitas. it was cool to walk around and enjoy this and see everyone is costume. all the shops and restaurants give out candy. isn’t that cute?

thanks for stopping by and looking at my photos! please share yours if inspired, just leave a link the comment section. :) and much magic to you!

Sounds like a fun evening! Those are all great pumpkins! :)

Here’s the pumpkin I carved this year.

Such a beautiful occasion ~ love the evening photos. The pumpkins are great ~ esp the one with the sea horse on it. :-) Thanks so much for sharing!
xoxo

My halloween was a wash-out this year: I couldn’t find any pumpkins and I had no trick-or-treaters. I enjoyed the chocolate I had bought for the others immensely though :) Thanks for the lovely photos – I particularly love the idea of pumpkin ale, I need to look into that.

Delilah is such a princess … what a trooper. If I knew I’d be getting chicken-licken after succombing to being dolled up — I think I’d do it. Hugs ….. thank you for posting all the gorgeously spooky pumpkin photos.

(((((((((((Much Love))))))))))))))

boo-tiful! I love pumpkin ale…we had it too!

oh i love it!

Oh, the one of Delilah in her tutu made me giggle! And I am just now getting caught up on some of your older posts . . . the words of Justin on his b-day were so sweet, and of course I loved the De-lih video. : )

how fun! i LOVE the surfer pumpkin. sadly, i didn’t do much for halloween this year but i did get dressed up for work and walked around in the evening in search of pumpkins on side streets: http://wonderingsandwanderings.wordpress.com/2008/11/01/et-cest-parti/
