on teaching your own little girl art camp….

hi ya’ll…
i have been getting quite a few emails regarding questions on teaching your own art classes to girls. yes yes! i love this. it is SO fun and i encourage anyone who wants to do this to give it a whirl. if i can do it, so can you. trust me. it is not about formal training or having the fancy degrees. (i have neither) it is about being real and getting girls excited about creating. if you are excited, they will be too.
*
so, does anyone have any specific questions? i will answer them the best i can in my next posting. i think it will be really fun to get a group together who want to do camps next summer..whether i do an online class or just end up using this space to do it. lets get more of us out there teaching the stuff we wish we would have learned as little girls.
*
in other news-i am receiving the most beautiful care packages (for the shakti rising class) from you guys lately! wow! i will keep you posted and show you the final art packs when we are done. such a generous clan we have here. thank you.
*
and lastly-this video by amanda just cracked me up. (and this one too. hillary art journaling and dropping the f-bomb made me accidently spit pink lemonade all over poor delilah) i discovered amanda and her videos through miss suzi blu and have been hooked ever since. enjoy!

I would love to know how to teach these classes…but in a little bit of a different way. I’m going to be volunteering my time at the local boys and girls club…obviously in the art room. These are all children living at or below the poverty level and will love anything that I teach…I know the rocks would be a huge hit for sure and any other suggestions you can give me would be so appreciated.
thanks so much….hugs, beth

Hi! I am a big fan all the way from Australia! I have been reading your blog for a while now and I just love what you do with your camps.
I am a language teacher in a high school, but have been thinking about doing some arts-and-crafts camps during the school holidays. They look like so much fun, and I have always been a highly creative bean, and have been longing for a way to incorporate this side of myself into my life in a more direct way. My questions to you are:
- legally speaking, did you have to do anything? Get working with children checks, get extra insurance in case someone had an accident etc? I have worked in the States and know that it can be similar to Aus in terms of the care taken when it comes to working with children. How did you deal with this aspect of your camps?
- Did you also provide food for the kids, or did they bring their own lunch?
- Did you advertise and if so, how?
- Did you have a limit to how big your groups could be?
Ok, I think that is it for now!
Many thanks for answering my questions, I thinking you are amazing and reading your blog certainly inspires me over here! You have no idea how far your influence spreads… keep up the great work!
With love and sunshine,
Steph

I’ve held on to a secret dream of doing this next summer- I’ve been so inspired by you and your camp. How does it work if you don’t have a cottage by the sea?
Any suggestions on securing a place?

It must be in the air, because I’ve had several requests to teach art classes to kids in the past couple of weeks. I will be teaching drawing and painting starting in Oct and private lessons to adults as well. I can’t wait. Karin

Wow! I would love to learn more about the Art Journaling Camps. I work with children for a living, but I work privately and can make my own hours. It would be amazing to hold some art camps for older girls next summer. I read your posts during the summer thinking that I would love to do that.

Me too. I would also love to know about the advertising and if you did provide classes for different age levels and if so what ages did you put in one class? Did you charge the materials extra or included? And how many hours did you do a day? Five days? I really, really love to do this as a group all over the world (I am in Berlin, Germany) where we could support each other, cause I am a bit shy about it…
