I'm selfish like that. If it doesn't make me happy, I just won't do it. The end. I've got enough sadness in my life, I control the parts I can and give in to the ones I can't. But it's my life and I will do as much as I possibly can to ensure it's a good one.

I have asked myself that question many times over the years. I think I've learned in order to feel serenity in my everyday life I just HAVE to do what makes ME happy or, at the very least, content. Life ends too quickly to do anything else.

hee hee-you wise one......

what a good freakin question to put out there.

You are growing my love....leaps and bounds.

I just adore those rock postcards! Oh and the rocks out on the street for anyone to take. That moved me so deeply.

You make a difference in the world

Hmmm, always an important question. More importantly, maybe, is if there is a good and important reason why you are doing something that doesn't make you "happy" but still bears doing? Back to McCabe's balance question, I think, or Rowena's comment, can it make you happy from another point of view? Sometimes, doing something that doesn't make us "happy" in the moment is worth doing for the long term consequences ... commitment, because it is important to someone we love, because sometimes the real gains we can achieve come through sacrifice or uncomfortable actions... I'm not sure. What I am pretty sure of, is that only in retrospect can we be sure if "happiness" was the touch point by which we were to measure why some action we took was the right action to take or not.

Do what makes you happy ~ not what others expect or want you to do.
