decorate your world*

rocks30.gif

hi there.
i’m back,
and sooner than i expected.
i got a new computer
which makes me very happy.

there is so much i want to tell you.

i want to tell you about the guy
who used to live in our courtyard
and the conversation we had about
spreading good messages to the world.

heart.gif

i want to tell you about the grief process
of losing all my photos and then the
gentle light that trickled in and helped
me let go.

i want to tell you how lonely i felt offline
and how it made me question where i fit
in this big wide world and if i even fit in at all.
or want to.

i want to tell you about her round, sweet face
and how she would cup her hands to tell me
a secret each day in my ear.

i want to tell you how hard it is to see
someone you love hurt
and how helpless and depressing that
can feel inside.

but i am going to start by telling
you about the rocks,
and how the children know.

rocks3.gif

i had not planned to paint rocks
everyday during camp this week.
i had other plans.

but so did they.

rocks34.gif

the rocks are always a big hit
when the kids come over to do art.
they are all over the front steps
in bright bold colors.

can we do rocks
they asked.

i told them about how the rocks
tumble in the sea for years to be
smooth and sleek.
i told them about the secrets
they hold-
secrets of mermaids and magic.
i told them about the hope revolution
and how much power they had to love
the world.

rocks7.gif

it did not take much.
they were in.

rocks25.gif

i was a little surprised at how unattached
they were to their creations.
how easily they gave away their love.
or maybe it is not so surprising.
maybe this really is how we start off.

rocks1.gif

i photographed a few while they were working
but almost every last one was given away.
i was awfully tempted to keep a few favorites
for myself.

rocks23.gif
rocks24.gif

i did not tell them what to write.
i did not give them ideas.
this is all them.

rocks4.gif

we walked around the block
and spread them around.
some by the sea.
some by the coffee shop.
some on bike seats and in the
back of trucks.
some on the steps of the old church.
some in gardens.
some in trees.

rocks8.gif

the kids man,
they just know.

art is as magic as heaven.

rocks9.gif

you are always loved.

rocks10.gif

you are special in your own way.

rocks351.gif

put yourself in a good mood!

rocks15.gif

no matter what you’re loved.

rocks20.gif

relax and go play something will come.

rocks291.gif

be yourself. play.

rocks27.gif

nobody can be up or on all the time.
nobody has it all figured out-
no matter how spiritual or joyful they are.
we all have our stuff.
we all have crap and triggers and dark places
we go when things are scary.

rocks28.gif

but maybe we can bring ourselves back,
again and again.
bring ourselves back to us.
to what is true.
maybe it is as simple as a rock
and spreading a little love.

camp23.gif

at least that is what i’d
like to think.

so glad you’re back!! I love that you are spreading love one rock at a time.

well, those little rocks helped bring me back to here. sometimes i feel like there is nothing in me to like. but then sometimes i find something. (today has not been a good day, so far. can you tell?) maybe the day will get better.

Yay!!! I stopped in just to check and here YOU are with all the magic again. I adore these kids creations ~ and that it was all made possible by a magical mermaid who dances. :-) I cannot even begin to tell you how much your sharings mean to me…beautiful!
Much love,

so lovely. my sunny yellow ’shine’ rock lives near my keys on my bookshelf… i still pick it up and pop it in my pocket as i head out the doors some days. knowing its there helps keep me grounded.

Oh I am so glad that you are back!!! I have missed you dearly. I cannot wait till you have a retreat for big kids like me and we can play and have as much fun as your little mermaids are having.

What is bringing me back is some time alone in my mind. Walking with the sun shining one me, the smell of salt in the air, and my family making me smile laugh and fee loved.

And you my dear have brought me back by coming back. thank you!!

you and that special gooey light that you spread on everything:)

this post was so fantastic! the innocence and the minds of children are amazing things, aren’t they? i work as a nanny and it keeps me in focus when the going gets rough. the kids seem to sense when things are tough and just envelope me in their giggles and hearts and joy. and it keeps me going. they could teach us all a thing or three! :)

hi! i am new to your site, and i have to tell you that i love it!! i busted out my acrylics last night and went to town! i love the mermaid camp idea. sooo great – i miiiiiiight have to steal it! ahahah. :) anywho, great site!

So glad you’re back! And a new computer, good for you. As for why I kept checking back, your words and phots make me feel great. Keep up your good work in the world. Hug those kids for me!

yay, my favorite mermie is back!

i can’t wait to share this post with emily, it’s just so “her”.

and of course it’s your…love, kindness, inspiration, and magic that keeps me coming back!

xoxoxoxox

tammy

YOU! are what keeps me coming back and I am especially fond of rocks, too. there is inspiration and authenticity inside and spilled over here and these are a few of my favorite things and like the sea, i am drawn to its beauty

So glad you’re back, you were greatly missed. I love the rocks. Ella and I finally painted rocks for the first time this weekend! She loved it. I will take some photos and send them your way. I did have trouble having some of the paint stick though? I used acrylic (thick, like you said)but it just didn’t stick too well. Except for the beautiful turquoise blue, that one worked exceptionally well! Again, so very glad you’re back!

Welcome back!!

There are days that I yearn to be unplugged from the internet because there are so many things I should be doing but instead I am surfing the web.

But there are also days that I only feel connected to the world when I am plugged in.

Love love love the rocks… they are incredibly powerful. I am carrying around my love rock at present, to remind me whenever I think I might forget or have gotten it wrong.

The kids’ rocks are wonderful and I am not surprised by any of it… just miss the classroom and my kids and their wonderful world and how they let used to let me in to play, too.

awwwwwww … this is just what i needed on a grey sky monday morning, some of your beautiful magic :) smooches darling!!

YIPEEEEEeeeee! You’re back! I haven’t commented very much on your blog, eventhough I’ve been reading your posts for some time now and love every last word. Then when you were gone I realized how much I appreciated your thoughts and creativity, not having them of course made me reflect. So I will comment more and share more (ie opening myself up, my challenge sometimes in this life). Having these little realizations always brings me back to myself. I love it! Thanks so much!!! Glade you’re back.

oh yes.
you are back.
and what brings me back is all the love.
the spreading.sharing.engery.flowing all through us.
i put my pen down on the paper and the ink flows and i feel brought back to myself.
to my center.
love to you.

You, are bringing me back. I am enchanted by your thoughts and your rock…and I’m a fellow mermaid. Can’t help but be delighted by a kindred spirit.
Thank you for you…you were missed.
~Cin

holy cow, that just opened the flood gates big time. tears are flowing freely and ya know what? it feels great! the energy in those beautiful rocks from those adorable children touch me from there.

thank you

welcome back

I’m known as a fairly particular person so I definitely come back to see how a free spirit soars. I always feel calmer and more open after I visit. I also appreciate the honesty and love that greets me every time.

It’s really great to have you back.
Micheline

Why did I come back? Because you had the kids paint meaningful phrases on rocks and then deliver them to strangers. You taught them to put the magic back into the universe. You are helping them to help others believe. I love it.

WOO HOO!! SO glad you’re back. I’m back because I check all the time! I’ve missed the magic, I’m sure everyone has…xoxo

what a beautiful post ~ oh those sweet children and the purity of their creativity is magic… your soulfulness is what keeps me coming back ~ happy to see you again!
ox kelley

Ooh, you’re back! I’m so happy about that!

What brings me back? Your courage, honesty, simplicity, creativity, kindness, compassion, warmth, poetry, joy, inspiration, clear-sightedness… your words and pictures… this blog just makes me feel good. Love to you.

what brings me back: in a word….YOU! THE magical rockstar :)

glad you are back to share more stories with us.

love & dreams,
xo

Oh, good. Good good good. *xo*Anna

Awesome food for the soul. Muchas Gracias.

this made me well up with huge joyful tears.

you are such a gift to this world.

xoxo

Hi mccabe!
I am loving your camp and their magical rocks!! Spreading the love so willingly is such a treasure given by children.
Enjoy- and I’m glad you’re back!
xo Eileen

I’m new to your site as well. But I absolutely love your creativity and energy. You make me want to bring my creative side back out again. Thank you for the inspiration. My kids and I plan on having a lot of art fun in the future thanks to you!

Thank you for decorating our world in such an enchanting, magical, mermaid way! YOU have brought me back from the depths of drowning in a unimaginative dark place, where I never wanted to be, but somehow fell or got pushed into.

I’m back too…last week… I lovingly gathered rocks from my enchanted garden. painted words of love, inspiration & encouragement on them. found my long lost fairy dust and made them SPARKLE with magic! gave them to a friend…feels great…

Glad you are back; all the love you send out comes back to you a thousandfold!

I’m so glad you’re back. :O) I keep coming back because all the love and creativity you share here makes my heart feel a little lighter and more hopeful every time. You are like rays of sunshine… thanks. :O)

these are exactly the words i needed to hear today. i’m just crying and crying and still somehow feeling loved by your beautiful rocks and beautiful candid children.

i come back here because i always feel like i’m important here.

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

What beautiful rocks they created!! How amazing!!!

[...] Magic Rocks: I love the idea of writing on rocks and leaving them all over. I love even more what the children chose to write. [...]

Glad you made it back! Your rocks story really rocks. I wish I was in the neighborhood that day to see a few hiding about.

You ROCK! (Quite literally, I see…) What you are doing with those children is absolute magic. Thank you for spreading beauty through the world and planting the seeds of more beauty by working with children. Bless you!

glad you are back….you were missed….and now I want to paint rocks and spread some love !!!

[...] I love this mermaid’s blog.  Why not paint some rocks and leave them for people to find?  What a lovely idea. [...]
