where do you put your magic rock?

delilah_magic.jpg

yes, i am one those cat people. i was holed up in the cottage all weekend painting rocks and then making delilah pose with them. she actually doesn’t mind so much, believe it or not.
i have received so many wonderful emails from folks enjoying the magic rocks! this brings me so much joy…such a simple idea that has traveled as far as england and australia! i love hearing about what they brought you, and where you put them, etc. a few women wrote that they use theirs for special rituals, which i think is so very cool.

some people have asked me where i personally put the rocks in my home. i have a big bowl that i have on our bookshelf…and i also like to move a few around when the mood strikes.

justin receives rock messages on his desk on a regular basis. i have been doing this with him from the beginning. the first time i came to his house for a movie, i left a red rock on his soap dish that said “magic.” (before we got serious i wanted him to know what he was getting into.)

i also give a lot away. if a visitor is drawn to the rock bowl-i insist that they take one. i like to keep these babies in motion.

so many of you have put beautiful pictures of the rocks on your blogs and flickr….and i was wondering if you minded if i posted some here. i would love to give others ideas on how to display them, and it is also fun to see where they end up for me!

if inspired, please send your rock photos to mccabe@dancingmermaid.com

thanks in advance…
mccabe x

Loved this post! So fun to hear how people are responding to your rocks, and also how you keep the rocks in your own life. The story about leaving one on Justin’s soap dish was particularly special to read about — I love that you wanted that man to know just what he was getting in you, and it’s magic.

Also love the pic with Delilah! :)

you inspired me to make my own and it has brought me such joy! I have them on my porch and in my kitchen beside a plant. I too encourage visitors to take a rock with them if they feel drawn to a particular stone…you are too cool mccabe, too cool

under my sleeping pilloW*

it says: your dreams are happening now.

it feels more true when i have that rock in bed w/ me.

i *love* your rock of the month club and i wanted to tell you, though i am not a member -yet-. i’ve even put joining the club on my 101 things in 1001 days list and i’ll be signing up as soon as we get home to new zealand.

thanks for the joy you are spreading around the world with this.

they move around my studio - usually to the busiest spot so that I can soak in their yumminess.

Your package is coming darling…

XOXOXO

love your kitty pics-

I keep my rocks in an interesting place, but it touches my own heart.

When I took care of my first micro-preemie at work (1 lb, 2 oz) I was amazed at the diapers he wore. They’re the size of my cell phone. I took one out of the big pack of diapers and carry it in my purse… I guess as a reminder of perspective and the presence of very real miracles in this world. When I got your rocks, it took me a while to figure out where I wanted to keep them. I didn’t want them bouncing around in my purse but wanted to keep them near, so I decided to wrap them in the diaper. Now they’re with me everywhere I go, protected inside a sweet little reminder of my babies at work. Isn’t that fun?! I was so excited about that idea. :)

do you still have the ones that i sent to you? i can email them again. they make me SO happy!

I have my magical rocks stacked in karins on my bureau in my bedroom — they aren’t painted — but are still ever treasured sea finds .. along with the rocks — I have two blanched white clam shells filled with beautiful sea glass of all different shapes, colors and sizes. Makes me smile. When I moved to the midwest I packed up my sea glass and rocks as well as my books and brought them with me — and insisted on having them shipped back. My mommma thought I was a bit nuts to insist but some I’ve had since 8th grade (age 14) and they all are special and have their own stories to tell …

((((((((((((Mermie-Love))))))))))))))))

Much love and light to you … oxoxo

I love this idea so much that I am going right now to find my own special magic rocks! Please send any info that you have!
