on the way home from ruby’s diner last night….

11 year old: man my tummy hurts right now! (deep, dramatic sigh) i think the energy is getting sucked right out of it.
*
me: really?
*
11 year old: yep, i think there is some energy blaming going on.
*
me: you mean an energy blockage?
*
11 year old: yep, thats what i said.
*
10 year old: can i have one of the pink frosted cookies when i get home?
*
11 year old: the energy in me is not mine, i am pretty sure. this does not feel like me.
*
10 year old: actually, my tummy hurts too.
*
me: just take a deep breath and ground yourself and no, if your tummy hurts, a pink frosted cookie is not going to make you feel any better. trust me.
*
11 year old: hey-are you in a bad mood? maybe it is your energy i am picking up on?
*
me: other than being really tired, i am fin–
*
10 year old: you know what, i think my stomach is ok now!
*
11 year old: it can be really hard when you absorb other people’s energy because you are sensitive.
*
me: just breathe, we are almost home…..
*
11 year old: maybe it was that mean looking man in the white hats energy.
*
10 year old: my tummy feels fine NOW, so can i PLEASE have a COOK-IE?????
*
11 year old: well, i think that your tummy hurts because maybe you have to release some anger. anger management! anger management!
*
me: seriously you guys, we are like 2 MINUTES AWAY, please re-LAX.
*
10 year old: it is not anger management! it is just because i ate my mac and cheese TOO FAST!!!
*

silence fills the car.
problem resolved.

Oh, that was so great. Thanks for the laugh it gave me! I love the way you capture the voice inflections in this transcription. Amazing. Also, I laughed out loud when the 10-year-old chimed in that, in fact, her tummy was feeling quite fine now all of a sudden. I just knew it was because she wanted to get the cookie . . . and then you confirmed it with her next insertion into the story. :)

too funny…and cute.

Kids are the best.

i blame the ketchup! Vile, noxious concoction! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

so made me giggle … still giggling, oh my … can’t stop giggling : )
